A scan that flagged fatty liver, labs that keep rising, fatigue that doesn’t lift, we’re ready to find the root cause with you, and heal the whole of you. Let’s begin.
Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, now more precisely termed metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), is estimated to affect roughly 25 to 30 percent of the global adult population, making it the most common liver condition worldwide. It is frequently identified incidentally on routine ultrasound, and clinical guidance at diagnosis is often limited to general advice to reduce oil and sugar intake without further explanation.
MASLD is understood to progress along a spectrum, from simple fat accumulation (steatosis) to inflammation (steatohepatitis) and, in a smaller proportion of cases, fibrosis, underscoring the clinical value of addressing it at an early stage.
| Clinical Presentation | Underlying Mechanism |
|---|---|
| Dull ache or heaviness under the right rib, fatigue | Fat accumulation within liver cells (hepatic steatosis), impairing normal liver function |
| Weight concentrated around the abdomen, resistant to change | Insulin resistance, driving fat storage directly into liver tissue |
| Elevated ALT, AST, or GGT on blood panels | Low-grade hepatic inflammation resulting from fat accumulation |
| Bloating, digestive discomfort | Gut-liver axis imbalance, a documented bidirectional relationship between gut microbiota and liver inflammation |
These mechanisms interact rather than operate independently. MASLD sits at the intersection of insulin resistance, dietary composition, gut health, and inflammation, which is why it responds to a structured protocol rather than a general instruction to eat less oil.
This checklist supports self assessment prior to consultation and does not constitute diagnosis.
Fatty liver is rarely isolated to the liver itself. It is typically downstream of insulin resistance, visceral fat, gut health, and dietary pattern compounding over time.
Assessment includes liver enzymes, metabolic markers (insulin, HbA1c, lipid profile), body composition with a specific focus on visceral fat, and gut and inflammation signals, prior to any dietary recommendation.
All three are reviewed in the first consultation, with the appropriate starting point recommended based on clinical presentation.
Foundation. Built from existing labs, scan reports, and lifestyle history.
Adds microbiome testing. The gut-liver axis is documented to influence liver inflammation and fat metabolism. Used as one input alongside labs and history, not a standalone diagnostic.
Adds DNA-based genetic testing. Certain variants, including PNPLA3, are well-replicated in research as increasing susceptibility to hepatic fat storage independent of body weight, making this one of the more established areas of nutrigenomic research. Genetic results are treated as one input alongside labs and scans, not a standalone predictor.
Full review of scans, liver enzymes, metabolic labs, and lifestyle in the first consultation. Where recent labs or a scan are unavailable, required testing is specified.
A protocol built around the specific driver identified, insulin resistance, visceral fat, or gut-related inflammation, with the clinical reasoning behind each recommendation made explicit.
Scheduled follow-up to track energy, weight, and lab or scan movement, with protocol adjustment based on response.
Continued support until liver markers and energy stabilize, with an option to transition into general metabolic maintenance.
Connect via secure 1-on-1 video call from anywhere in the world. Ideal for clients requiring flexible scheduling or residing outside Kerala.
Available in Trivandrum, including in-person body composition analysis.
With or without prior lab or scan testing. Existing reports are used where available. Where unavailable, required testing is specified.
* Protocol depth (Foundation, Gut, or Gene) is a separate decision from consultation mode, determined in the first consultation based on clinical need.
